ITV, when rebranding the entire network, was challenged with updating their production Avid based tape work flow process to reduce costs and more importantly mimimize production schedules. Current practises required production team members to hand carry tapes from department to department, in different parts of the London facility, a very time intensive process to complete even a 60 second promo!

techIT Solutions designed and implemented a truly open cross-platform SAN based upon Apple's Xsan technology. MAC, PC and Linux ITV clients are now connected to this San network. This is the foundation and enterprise infrastructure for a tapeless, fully functional uncompressed SD workflow.

techIT also provided extensive on site customer training for the ITV Broadcast and IT engineers. We continue to support the installation with comprehensive technical services that include the SAN, the network and all desktop systems connected to this infrastructure.

ITV is now tape-less with over 35 clients actively using the San network. The Xsan has over 140TB of storage and can actively serve multiple streams ofuncompressed SD Video to all clients connected to the system.
